Thousands have been out in force again in the US, to protest against President-elect Donald Trump. The man who they say is a threat to civil and human rights.

The biggest rallies on the fourth night were in New York, Los Angeles and Chicago.

“Well of course we honour the first amendment. They have a right to assemble and to speak,” said Kellyanne Conway, Trump’s campaign manager.

“I just know that had he (Trump) lost the election, as everyone I think – including the media – was expecting, and these were Trump protesters, everybody’s hair would be on fire, asking them to accept the election results and do a peaceful transition in our government.”

Protesters have decried Trump’s campaign promises to curb immigration and register Muslims as well as allegations that he sexually abused women, which he denies.

“We do have to do our part, to volunteer, to get involved, write to our legislators, but this is step one,” said Los Angeles protester Elly Jameson.

“And I think, if anything, all of us coming together and just grieving, this event, experiencing it together, is important. It’s step one.”

Raising fears of violence around the rallies, one protester in Portland suffered non-life threatening injuries when he was shot early on Saturday as he took part in a march across the Morrison Bridge, by a young gunman who fled the scene.

Police later said that the suspect’s car was spotted, a gun was impounded and four people detained.

The continuing protest action comes as Hillary Clinton blames the FBI’s director for her stunning defeat.

She has apparently told top campaign funders that his decision to go public with the renewed examination of her email server had eroded support. (Euronews)
