Among this year’s recipients was Chinese actor Jackie Chan who, after 56 years in the film industry and more than 200 movies, finally received his Academy Award.

“Every year when I watch the Oscars, my dad always says ‘Son, you’ve got so many movie awards in the world, when are you getting one of these?’ Then I just look at my dad, ‘Dad, I only make comedy action movies”.

Actor Richard Gere presented an award to Anne Coates, who won a film editing Oscar in 1963 for ‘Lawrence of Arabia’. Coates has become only the second editor to receive an honorary Oscar after MGM stalwart Margaret Booth in 1978.

“I feel so lucky to have had this wonderful life doing the job I love, working with some of the finest directors of the last 50 years on some of the most fascinating scripts ever written,” said the British film editor. “And can you imagine a job where you actually get paid to look into the eyes of George Clooney?”

Awards were also presented to casting director Lynn Stalmaster, who cast the likes of Christopher Reeve and John Travolta, and documentary filmmaker Frederick Wiseman, whose recent film, ‘In Jackson Heights’ (2015), has won several gongs.
