The South Korean, ranked 34th, beat France’s Alexandre Bardenet after defeating the two-time world champion Nikolai Novosjolov in the semi-final.
Bardenet, who’s ranked 75th, fought fiercely but wavered in the final moments – losing 13 to 15. The 26 year-old Frenchman had never before reached a World Cup podium in the senior category.
