Rome - Hosting the 2024 Olympic Games could have a positive impact on Rome, said former chairman of Ferrari, Luca Cordero de Montezemolo, who is leading the city's bid to host the games.

"Today's children could be the athletes or volunteers, they could take selfies with the champions," he said after his induction into the Automotive Hall of Fame in Detroit. "Roma 2024 provides a prime opportunity for launching start ups ... innovation and inspiring children. The Olympic village could be built not far from one of the universities in Rome. The success of past Olympics, such as Barcelona and Sydney, proved that they were a catalyst for the relaunch of entire civic areas; the Olympic Village built for the 1960 Rome Olympics has now become a residential area".(AGI)
