Rome - Things are getting hectic on the Italian football transfer market. A number of negotiations seem to be leading to results, while others look likely to fail. Davide Astori, who seemed close to a deal with Napoli, has decided to try his luck elsewhere.

The former Cagliari and Roma defender was expected in Naples but contractual and sponsorship problems put paid to the deal. The player is currently training alone with a personal trainer at Roma. He is reported to be talking with Fiorentina and Stuttgart. For Roma, talks about Salah and Dzeko, who played for 22 minutes against Real Madrid on Friday, are on hold. However, goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny is now expected to arrive in a matter of hours. Arsene Wenger told a press conference on the eve of the Emirates Cup that the Pole "could go on loan to Roma". "He is a top class keeper but we have three keepers who are all three top. So if one of them can play somewhere it's good." "It's all pretty much done," added Wenger. However, talks about Roma defender Alessio Romagnoli are still in the balance. Both Milan and Napoli are interested in the player. The Neapolitans are also after Salah but might let go of the Egyptian for a discount on Romagnoli. This is highly unlikely though, given the attitude of Roma manager Walter Sabatini. AC Milan manager Mahjlovic commented: "If Alessio leaves Roma, he'll come to us." Roberto Mancini aims to strengthen the Inter Milan attack and has set his eyes on Perisic and Jovetic. However, Felipe Melo seems a more likely option and Criscito also seems close to a deal. Talks to renew Handanovic's contract have led nowhere. Juventus are increasingly interested in Draxler but must beat Wolfsburg to the player. The Italian club still wants Isco, who on Friday stole the show against Real, and Guilherme Siqueira of Atletico Madrid is also still in the picture. Empoli have taken Camporese from Fiorentina, Roma have loaned Pettinari to Vicenza, Bologna have hired Brienza, and Carpi has closed a deal with Spolli and the 25-year-old midfielder Abdelhamid El-Kaoutari may go to Palermo.
