Donald Trump has denounced a recent spate of anti-Semitism in the United States.

Following a visit to the National Museum of African American History and Culture in Washington DC, the President spoke out against “horrible” hoax threats to Jewish community centres.

Mr Trump toured the museum alongside his daughter Ivanka and his nominee for the cabinet position of Secretary of Housing and Urban Development, Ben Carson.

He said: “The anti-Semitic threats targeting our Jewish community and community centres are horrible and are painful, and a very sad reminder of the work that still must be done to root out hate and prejudice and evil.”

The President’s most forceful remarks to date against anti-Semitism come after hoax bomb threats to eleven Jewish community centres, including those in the Houston, Chicago and Milwaukee areas.

In a wave of vandalism at Jewish cemeteries, headstones were knocked over at the Chesed Shel Emeth Society cemetery in St. Louis, Missouri. (James Edgar – Euronews)
