Rome - The Italian Development Cooperation Agency is launching a new operation for the protection of the human rights of victims of war and violence in the states of Darfur, Kordofan and Blue Nile in Sudan.
The Directorate-General has approved the grant of a voluntary emergency contribution of 500,000 euros to the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC). This will go to support aspects of the Sudan Revised Emergency Appeal 2015, in synergy with the operations that Italian Development Cooperation has already carried out in Darfur and Kordofan. In particular, the activities will concern protection of civilians, family reunification, and information to vulnerable groups and migrants. In addition, there will be help with water supply, food supply, livelihood, health care and support to disabled people through physical rehabilitation and the promotion of social inclusion. Support will also go to victims of war and people detained for illegal migration issues. (AGI)
