To celebrate his luck, Mr Nonino received several complimentary tickets to visit the Expo and a scaled down model of the Airbus A380 aircraft and was invited to dine in the pavilion's VIP lounge. In addition, his family was treated to a guided tour of the pavilion and to a demonstration of the new on-flight products and services offered by Etihad Airways and Alitalia, including Etihad's "Residence". "The popularity of this amazing pavilion has exceeded our expectations, and in welcoming our 100,000th guest in the short period since we unveiled it to the world, we also celebrate the successful collaboration between two great airlines creating a showcase of airline innovation," said Peter Baumgartner, Etihad Airways Chief Commercial Officer. He added: "We are delighted that we have been able to design and bring to reality a unique space which serves as a place of entertainment, culture, education and international friendship, and which translates it all in a quintessentially Etihad and Alitalian way." Ariodante Valeri, Chief Commercial Officer of Alitalia, said: "We are very proud of the success of our pavilion with so many visitors. To welcome thousands of people from around the world, in a context that is so unique, innovative and international, is the best way to present Alitalia and the partnership we have with Etihad Airways. Such recognition and appreciation confirms that we are on the right track." The two-story 1,1150 sq m pavilion of Etihad Airways and Alitalia is optimally located next to Palazzo Italia. This spectacular location also vaunts a Social Hub, offering a multimedia experience on the theme 'Connecting the World Journey' thanks to latest-generation technologies, large interactive screens and an Imagination Lounge hosting several show-cooking demos by chefs working on board of Etihad Airways and other celebrities, including Gabriele Rubini, a.k.a. Chef Rubio, and the United Arab Emirates chef, Khulood Atiq. The pavilion also features three flight simulators and a dedicated area for children, fully equipped with interactive games offering an enhanced reality experience, and the Oculus Rift virtual reality headsets that give visitors a full immersion experience of some of Etihad Airways's and Alitalia's destinations, including Abu Dhabi, New York, London, Tokyo, Bangkok and Buenos Aires. Etihad Airways and Alitalia, the official global airlines of Expo Milano 2015, play an essential role in attracting visitors to the event. (AGI)
