China strengthens yuan, ending devaluation

Shanghai - China's central bank on Friday raised the value of the yuan against the U.S. dollar by 0.05 percent, ending three days of falls after a surprise devaluation. The daily reference rate was set at 6.3975 yuan to one dollar, from 6.4010 the previous day.

The main international currencies including the euro hardly moved after the decision. The euro dropped slightly to 1.1144 dollar, 138.60 yen and the dollar reached 124.40 on the yen. (AGI)
