Brazzaville - A campaign has been set up to register the biometrics of refugees in the Republic of Congo.
It was launched on Aug. 17 by the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) with the Republic of Congo and the National Commission for Refugees.

It will involve about 60,000 refugees from the Democratic Republic of Congo, the Central African Republic and Rwanda. It will enable Congolese authorities to count the refugees, provide health services and guarantee their security, said the UNHCR. Statistics in May showed there were 3,195 asylum seekers, 27,586 refugees from the Central African Republic, 23,587 from the Democratic Republic of Congo, 9,038 from Rwanda and 667 from Angola, Burundi, Cameroon, Chad, Cote d'Ivoire, Iran, Mali, Liberia, Mauritania, Nigeria, Sierra Leone, Sudan, Togo and Uganda.
