U. S. gives Shell green light to drill for oil in Arctic

New York  - Royal Dutch Shell has been given permission to search for oil in the waters of Alaska by the U.S. Bureau of Safety and Environmental Enforcement.

The company had been given a temporary permit and can now resume drilling after suspending its 2012 project. U.S. President Barack Obama authorised offshore drilling in Alaskan waters by Shell in May, causing a wave of protest from environmental groups. (AGI)
