The programme, set up by the Italian Institute in Osaka, includes original music by Leonardo. The concert will be also held in Sakai and again in Osaka in recital form. "The Battle of Anghiari", one of Leonardo's greatest mural projects and acknowledged as one of the most ambitious decorative works in Italian Renaissance art, has been shrouded in mystery. It is widely known that Leonardo and Michelangelo were commissioned to decorate opposite walls in the Salone dei Cinquecento in Florence's Palazzo Vecchio.
  Neither work was completed and now only bear traces of what they were supposed to depict. The exhibition is split into two halves, one on the Tavola Doria, a famous 16th century oil painting of horses and warriors, thought to be the central portion of Leonardo's original fresco. The other focuses on a 16th century reproduction on board of Michelangelo's "Battle of Cascina". Neither work has been shown in Japan, and it is the first time works of this kind have been exhibited this way over the last five centuries of Italian history of art. (AGI)
