Rho (Milan) - A Swiss technological breakthrough presented at the Milan Expo on Saturday turns air into drinking water, without polluting the environment. The spearheading technology was presented by SEAS, Societe' de l'Eau Aerienne Suisse, based in Riva San Vitale, in the Ticino Canton, during the day dedicated to water.

The company illusrated its AWA Modula (Air to Water to Air) system, which is capable of capturing the humidity contained in the air and transform it into high-quality drinking water. The possibility of capturing water from air has been pursued for many years. Now the possibility has become reality and it has been tested on a large scale in a hotel and in an oil company in Mexico and in a cheese factory in Peru. Large numbers make all the difference: the project aims at obtaining up to 10,000 litres of water a day. The technology developed by SEAS could "solve the global water shortage", explained the company's CEO, Mr Rinaldo Bravo. (AGI)
