Italian fashion brand Dolce & Gabbana wowed Milan Fashion Week with a flamboyant spectacle that paid homage to their beloved Sicily.

Models marched to tarantella music in what appeared to be a mix between a market and a traditional village festival.

Models wore gold earrings, headbands made of pasta, roses, crowns and lights.

Artistic director Donatella Versace opened the Versace spring and summer show, with airy windbreaker jackets in green, purple and blue.

They were matched with leggings and rucksacks and parachute-like dresses in high-tech fabrics, giving the collection a sporty feel mostly in black purple and green.

Retro trenchcoats, feathered cuffs and brightly coloured patterns looking back to the 60s and 70s were among the highlights of Prada’s spring/summer women’s wear collection.

Models wore silk ensembles, skirts with a nostalgic design topped with colourful accessories.

Giorgio Armani, celebrated four decades in fashion last year, kept his designs clean cut, rigorous and elegant.

He also hinted at distant cultures, an important element in many of the his collections, introducing sarong skirts, soft fabrics and loose trousers. (Euronews)
