The mayor of a seaside town in Corsica has banned the burkini from the beaches in his commune.
The mayor of Sisco took the decision after an emergency meeting on Sunday evening.
Why was the decision taken?
After violent clashes on Saturday night between what are described as local youths and people of north-african origin.
Five people were injured in the disturbance.
What prompted the disturbance?
It broke out after tourists took photographs of a group of women wearing burkinis.
Is the burkini banned anywhere else?
Yes.
The centre-right mayor of Cannes banned the swimwear, used mainly by Muslim women who want to keep their bodies covered, on July 28.
The centre-right mayor of Villeneuve-Loubet also banned the swimwear.
Is France the only country to ban the burkini?
No.
The mayor of the southern German town of Neutraubling has banned the burkini from public swimming pools.
The decision has been put down to hygiene reasons.
