Officials from both pro-Assad military alliance and Syrian rebels have confirmed a truce deal is back on, meaning evacuations would start ‘within hours’.

“An agreement has been reached and within the coming hours its implementation will begin,“ Abdul Salam Abdul Razak, a military spokesman for the Nour al-Din al Zinki group, told Reuters.

An official from the pro-Assad alliance said 15,000 people are to leave two rebel-besieged villages of Foua and Kefraya, in exchange for the evacuation of ‘militants and their families and whoever wants to leave among civilians’ in Aleppo.

It comes after a ceasefire called on Tuesday was met with fresh fighting on Wednesday, with both sides accusing the other of violations. (Euronews)
