Perugia - The 10th Music Fest Perugia, for classical music, opened on Friday with a recital marathon in the Perugino Room at the Brufani Palace Hotel.

About 200 music students will audition for the First Play event on Saturday in the Raffaello Room. They will be accompanied by the Orquesta Filarmonica de la Universidad de Alicante, appearing at the festival along with Europa Musica. Around 50 internationally-renowned maestros will perform and teach. At 10 a.m. (CET) on Monday July 27, the public will be able to watch the orchestra trials in the Raffaello Room for a performance that evening at 9. The courtyard of the Provincial Palace will be one of the venues, with chamber music played from 6 p.m. on Monday. The much-awaited Three Generations master recital series will take place at the Pavone Theatre at 6 p.m. on Tuesday. Ilana Vered will perform on piano, with her pupil Sasha Starcevich, now a maestro and co-director of the festival and Nathan Lee, a young prodigy discovered at the festival and also a pupil of Ms Starcevich. Open orchestra auditions will be held at 10 a.m. in the Raffaello Room on Tuesday, and on Wednesday there will be a recital marathon at 9 p.m. at the University for Foreigners at Palazzo Gallenga. The festival is directed by Ilana Vered and Peter Hermes and continues until Thursday. (AGI)
