Rome - The meeting with the five finalists of the 53rd Premio Campiello literary award will begin at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday at the Gianfranco Imperatori Hall in the Assicurazioni Generali Palace in Rome.

The location was not selected by chance: Assicurazioni Generali is the main sponsor of the important literary prize. Giorgio Zanchini di Castiglionchio will act as moderator between the public and the finalists. They include Marco Balzano, author of "L'ultimo arrivato" (Sellerio); Vittorio Giacopini, who wrote "La Mappa" (Il Saggiatore); Carmen Pellegrino with "Cade la terra" (Giunti); Paolo Colagrande with "Senti le rane" (Nottetempo); and Antonio Scurati with "Il tempo migliore della nostra vita" (Bompiani). The Premio Campiello is promoted by the Veneto branch of Confindustria (General Confederation of Italian Industry). The five finalists were announced in late May by the panel of jurors, presided this year by political expert and essayist Ilvo Diamani, at the University of Padova. The winner will be announced on September 12 in Venice, at the Teatro La Fenice. The winning literary work will be voted on by a jury of 300 anonymous readers selected throughout Italy according to social and professional categories. The jurors change every year and their names are only revealed on the final night. (AGI)
