Venice  - Two new titles have completed the programme of the 72nd Venice International Film Festival, which will be held from Sept. 2 to 12. The event is directed by Alberto Barbera and organised by Biennale chaired by Paolo Baratta. Tharlo is a film directed by the Tibetan director Pema Tseden and based on a story written by the director himself.

Filmed in the Tibetan area of Qinghai, the film stars a young shepherd, a simple man whose ambition is to serve the people.
But he is disillusioned after his arrival in the city, where he meets a girl. The lead is played by the Tibetan actor, poet and musician, Shide Nyima. "I ricordi del fiume" (Memories of the River) by Gianluca and Massimiliano De Serio is a documentary that tells the story of the Platz, a large slum in which more than a thousand people of different nationalities live on the banks of the river Stura in Turin. The site was recently partially dismantled and several of the families living there were moved to normal houses. The documentary shows the last months of the slum and its people, alternating between hope and drama. The opening film of the festival's 'Orizzonti' section is "Un Monstruo de mil cabezas" (A Monster with a Thousand Heads) by Rodrigo Pla (Mexico). The film will be screened on Wednesday, Sept. 2 at 4:30 p.m. in Sala Darsena. It is an adaptation of the novel by Laura Santullo and tells the story of a woman who becomes the victim of a corrupt and negligent insurance company. She is forced to resort to desperate measures to get her sick husband the care he needs. (AGI)
