London - The rise in crude oil supply in non-Opec countries should keep prices down, reported Opec in the latest report. The organisation explained that this means that the drop in crude oil prices is lasting longer than expected due to the impact of shale oil and other competing sources.

The Opec monthly report estimated a rise in non-Opec country supplies of about 9000 barrels a day. Furthermore, Opec has raised estimates for 2015 regarding the 90,000 barrels/day of global crude oil demand, but, due to the higher volume offered by non-Opec countries, Opec demand for oil will remain stable at 29.23 million barrels/day. The U.S. non-conventional onshore output is expected to drop slightly by the second half of the year, and offshore production is due to increase thanks to start-up projects. (AGI)
