Arese - Fiat Chrysler on Wednesday unveiled a brand new Alfa Romeo, heralding the beginning of the automaker's product renaissance. The Giulia was presented in Arese, close to Milan, on the day Alfa Romeo was founded 105 years ago.

The ceremony was attended by the heads of the Fiat Chrysler group, including president John Elkann and managing director Sergio Marchionne. The Italian government was represented by Infrastructure Minister Graziano Delrio. Also present was tenor Andrea Bocelli, who spoke of his love for cars and recited a poem, before singing 'Nessun dorma' from the final act of Giacomo Puccini's opera Turandot, with the famous piece 'Vincero' (I will win). The new Alfa has a six-cylinder twin-turbo engine, inspired by Ferrari technology, with rear-wheel drive and all-wheel drive versions. CEO Harold Wester said at the unveiling: "The new Alfa puts the driver at the centre. Romeo was and will be again a perfect fusion between man and machine." (AGI)
