Rome, (Italy) - The Italian government has reduced the average time it takes to pay for goods and services it purchases from 82 days to 54 days over the past year, the economy ministry said on Friday.
The reduction is due to mandatory electronic invoicing which went into full effect in June 2015.
The ministry said over 50% of payments are currently being monitored.
It said that during the time period examined (June 1, 2015-May 31, 2016), 27.2 million invoices were registered totaling 157.8 billion euros, of which 14.8 million invoices have been paid, totaling 112.6 billion euros. (Ansa)
