Venice, (Italy) - Monica Bellucci arrived back in her homeland on Thursday evening for the 73rd annual Venice Film Festival.
In an interview with ANSA, she praised the role she had been given by award-winning director Emir Kusturica, who had cast her in 'On the Milky Road'.
''For the first time this is an important role of a woman who is sexy and who falls in love, but who is an adult and has wrinkles. This is a new concept for the cinema, and I am happy about it,'' the actress, who will soon turn 52, told ANSA.
She added that this ''fosters respect for women''. In the film, she - a woman promised in marriage to a warlord and pursued by a shady NATO general during the years of the Serbian conflict - falls in love with a quiet milkman played by the director himself. (Ansa)
