Rome, (Italy) - Three unions representing Alitalia pilots and cabinet crew, ANPAC, ANPAV and USB, decided on Monday that a strike planned for Thursday will go ahead, ANSA sources said.
On Sunday the air-transport unions belonging to Italy's big confederations - Filt-CGIL, Fit-CISL, Uiltrasporti and UGL Trasporto Aereo - said their members would not strike after reaching a deal on various issues regarding pilots and flight assistants. Alitalia Cramer Ball described the decision to go ahead with the strike as reckless. "I can only describe this decision by ANPAC as pure madness for a company that is currently losing 500,000 euros every single day," Ball wrote in an email to airline staff, which ANSA has seen. "This action will provoke highly significant economic damage... it will create inconvenience for thousands of clients... and, above all, it will threaten Alitalia's future development". (Ansa)
